Edmonton Oilers player Colby Cave has died four days after undergoing emergency brain surgery.
Cave was hospitalized after sustaining a brain bleed overnight on Monday and had been in a medically induced coma.
Surgeons removed a colloid sist that had been putting pressure on his brain, but the procedure could not save the 25-year-old Canadian.
Cave played 67 games in four NHL seasons with the Oilers and Boston Bruins, scoring four goals and providing five assists.
